About Us
Nestled in the heart of the ancient, fossil laden Karoo, surrounded by spectacular wide open spaces and dramatically sculpted koppies, lies Laingsburg.

Laingsburg is a friendly Karoo village only 280km from Cape Town. Laingsburg lies in a geologically fascinating area, steeped in history and tradition. Its a worthwhile and hospitable stop on the busy N1 highway through the Great Karoo.

The warm welcome that awaits tourists in Laingsburg, dates back to the mid-1700s. In those years farmers along the banks of the Buffels River offered hospitality to adventurers brave enough to cross the mountains and venture out onto the arid plains of the Great Karoo.

Here a charming little hotel was build in 1959 by Ted and Theresa Hart. Now, nearly fifty years later, it is owned by the third generation of this same family who survived the devistating flood of 1981 - where 114 people lost their lives.

Current owners Gerrit and Brenda Poole, along with hosts Buthelezi and Polly, welcomes you into their hotel to not only experience true Karoo hospitality, but also the chance to relax and to enjoy what this sceanic part of South Africa has to offer.
